Thermochromic Powder Pigment Description:

Ranbar WS4010 is a reversible thermochromic powder pigment, transitioning from colorless to green, and is produced using microcapsule coating technology. The pigment is presented in particle form, with an average size ranging from 2 to 5 microns. Enclosed within is thermochromic powder, capable of inducing color changes through heat-triggered chemical structure alterations. Notably, this pigment is highly responsive to external conditions.

The microcapsule coating layer not only reinforces the stability and chemical resistance durability of the thermochromic powder pigment but also augments the overall applicability of the product. However, when employed in cutting machines like mixers or high-speed dispersers, there is a risk of damaging the outer wall layer of the pigment capsule, potentially impacting its color-changing functionality. Therefore, it is imperative to exercise caution during processing to prevent any harm to this protective coating layer.

Thermochromic Powder Pigment application:

  • Plastic Applications: Ideal for injection and extrusion molding of transparent or translucent plastics, including polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, soft polyvinyl chloride, AS, and ABS.
  • Coating Applications: Well-suited for surface coating on a diverse range of plastic products, encompassing ABS, PE, PP, PS, PVC, EVA, and other plastic materials.
  • Ink Applications: Versatile for various printing methods such as screen, gravure, and letterpress printing, applicable to diverse materials like textiles, paper, synthetic film, glass, ceramics, and wood, among others.

 

There are many kinds of thermochromic powder pigment, and the temperature range of color change can be adjusted. Different series of thermochromic powder pigment can be matched and combined with each other so that we can get more colorful colors, and thus create various colors and gorgeous products that change colors under different temperatures.

 

By matching the basic colors of thermochromic powder pigment with each other in a certain ratio, a range of colored-to-colorless thermochromic pigments can be obtained, as illustrated in the diagram below:

Notes On Thermochromic Powder Pigment:

  • The reversible thermochromic powder pigment is an unstable system, so its light resistance, heat resistance, and solvent resistance are not as good as ordinary pigments, so it should be noted in use.
  • Light resistance: The light resistance of thermochromic powder is poor, when exposed to strong sunlight, the color-changing function may be reduced rapidly, avoiding strong sunlight and ultraviolet light is good for prolonging the service life of color-changing pigment.
  • Temperature resistance: Thermochromic organic matter may decompose above 80 degrees, so avoid long-time operation under high temperatures above 75 degrees.
  • Solvent resistance: Thermochromic powder pigment are sensitive to lipid solvents containing few carbon atoms, and have good solvent resistance in lipid structures containing more carbon atoms.
